Here in Guatemala I have experienced the most amazing sunrises I have ever seen, watched clouds move at incredible speeds past mountains, and seen billows of orange smoke expanding out of an active volcano. I really don’t have many words to describe the beauty I have seen and I feel fortunate to have had so many moments over the last four weeks where I have stared at the sky in awe wondering, “How is that even possible?” As I have slowed down and beheld God’s creation, I have been reminded that the one who created all these things is also the one who created me, who knows me, who sees me, who is fighting for me, and who loves me. I have been reminded that he is strong, big, and kind. And this morning I read Psalm 19, a psalm I have liked for a long time and now is particularly relevant.

The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour out speech;

night after night they reveal knowledge.

They have no speech, they use no words;

no sound is heard from them.

Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world.

Psalm 19:1-4

Check out some of the photos I took during my first month in Guatemala. One more month to go, then Ethiopia!
